Drafts and publishing

Every article has two versions: the draft you edit, and the live copy your visitors read. They're separate on purpose.

Saving is not publishing

Save draft stores your work. It doesn't touch the live copy at all — an article that was already published carries on serving exactly what it served before.

Set live publishes: it copies your draft to the public version, puts it on your help centre, and makes it available to the AI.

This is the single thing most worth understanding about the help centre. You can rewrite an article completely, save it a dozen times, and nothing changes for your customers until you choose to publish.

Editing a published article

The same split applies afterwards. Publishing doesn't tie the two versions together — editing a live article edits the draft only. Your changes sit there until you press Set live again.

So if you've corrected something and customers still see the old wording, the fix is almost always that the edit was saved but not published.

The AI reads the live copy too

The AI answers from published articles, so an unpublished draft is invisible to it in exactly the same way it's invisible to your visitors. A rewrite that fixes a bad AI answer doesn't take effect until it's live — see What the AI is allowed to answer from.

Article addresses don't move

The first time you publish an article, HeyThula gives it a permanent address, based on its title at that moment.

Renaming the article later doesn't change its address. That's deliberate: links your customers have shared, and links from other articles, keep working. A tidier URL isn't worth breaking every link pointing at it.

Unpublishing

Deleting an article removes it from your help centre and from the AI's knowledge.

If you only want it out of circulation temporarily, consider moving it to a collection you don't link to, or rewriting it — deleting is the one action here that isn't reversible.
